1. First of all, hello to all of you. Now, how do you fell coming back to Romania? You are quite accustomed to playing in our country and you have a serious database of fans here.

Thank you for inviting us! It feels just great to come to play once again in your country. It's been always a great fun to play in Romania. The line up at Metalhead Meeting looks also really promisin. I hope we'll have some time to check out some acts there. It would be Awesome to see Bloodbath performing with Nick Holmes!

2. I know that your new album will be released later this year. How far are you with everything that is related to this new album?

Drums are done already. We spent five very busy days at Stockholm recording drums with Jens Bogren as a captain. So we are slowly getting there. Tomi K. and Niclas are at the moment in Arebro recording rhythm guitar and bass. I will hit the studio in the beginning of May. Jens is producing and mixing the album. We recorded 13 songs all together. We've been very satisfied with the results and working with Jens so far. Hens has been pushing us forward! It's going to be a very powerfull and intense album. I promise you that!

3. What will be the lyrics theme?

This is a straight quote from Pekka Kainulainen, who is in charge of the lyrics:

"In the vein of Kalevala, the lyrics portray natural phenomena, the cycle of seasons, and the human condition. In the ever-recurring situations of alternating hope and hoelessness, man seeks advice from higher powers, wise ones and gods themselves. The poems do not constitute a story per se but they are connected by an underlying theme, familiar also to our time and age. We live under the Crimson Cloud, and once again, Time weighs us all."

4. Will you have any guests on this new album?

At this moment we are still in the middle of recording process, so I cannot tell anything exact. There's been some ideas in the air, but let's see what will happen in the end. There are certain spots in the album, that might need some spicy things. But I guess we are trying to keep things quite simple as always. Or simple in our point of view, hah.

5. What should we expect for Metalhead Meeting? Will it be a musical journey through all of your discography?

First of all, I really like festivals in general. Especially summer festivals. For us it's impossible to play songs from every album, because stagetime in festivals is always very imited. I'm pretty sure we will play a couple of songs from Tales-Elegy era and then some songs from Eclipse-Circle era. So we will provide some ear candies and also some kick-in-the-nust stuff for our Romanian fans.

6. I have been listening to Amorphis for more than one decade and I simply love each and every album you released so far, from the early death metal sound to a more melodic and progressive nowadays Amorphis. In the future, not necessary with this new album, will you continue to experiment with various metal genres?

Amorphis is a metal band, that's for sure. If you listen every Amorphis album, you can find some metal elements here and there. In some albums metal is on the top and in some albums these elements are little bit more hidden under the surfae. There's always layers in music. In our case one of the layers will be always metal. We don't have any artistical plans for the future. I think we just want to play lots of shows and compose music that we find interesting at the moment. And we are trying to do the both as good as we can.

7. Taking into consideration that each and every album is a little bit (or a little more) different, which is your favorite Amorphis album so far?

For me it's Karelian Isthmus or Tales. Those albums came out in that time, when i discovered death metal. I listened both albums a lot during that period. Both albums are classics in my point of view. In that time Amorphis was really an unique band. The whole Scandinavian extreme metal scene was young and virile. Lots of interesting and timeless stuff was composed inside dirty rehearsing places around the globe. I'm really proud that I can be part of that saga nowadays.

8. I have a question just for Tomi Joutsen. What is the secret behind your incredible voice, apart from regular training? I mean your growling is staggering and brutal and your clean vocals are so soothing.

There is no secret. I really hope ther was! I don't know that much about the singing technique or music theory in general. I kind of regret, that I was so lazy when I started singing back in the days. And I'm still lazy when it comes to practising individually. I really like to play with the guys, but singing alone at home is a pain in the a*s for me.

9. Metalheads all over the world are listening to Amorphis right now, but what do you listen to in your spare time?

Lately I've been listening mostly metal. If I had to drop some names, I would say Napalm Death, Trap Them, Bloodbath, Barren Earth, Black Breath, Behemoth, Beastmilk, Devil's Blood, Deathwolf, Kylesa, Sotajumala, Dead Moon, Rocky Erikson, Avatarium, Jex Thoth, Amesoeurs, CMX, Demonic, Death Judge, Ghost Brigate, My Dying Bride, PJ Harvey, Death Breath, Massive Attack, Solstafir, Red Fang, Mannhai, Hexvessel, Black Mountain, Suicidal Tendencies, Hamferd, Danzig, Off!, Nirvana, Nick Cave, Eels, Scum, Black Sabbath and of course Turbonegro.

10. One final thought for your fans and our readers?

Thank you for your interest! Metalheads around the world are like one big family. Listen to good music, go to concerts and don't act like assholes. There are too many out there already.
