C#m B
You spread your rusty fingers across the ledge.
E
You get your grip and peer down over the edge.
You watch the city move and breathe and migrate.
C#m
Youre not apart of it. Youre broken now, like us.
B E
I turn and brush the birds from off my shoulders.
G#m
And cross side-walks with an earful of white noise.
C#m B
You sit up on your perch for the rest of the night.
E
You watch the moon and hope the damn thing crumbles.
You count the stars reflecting in the windows.
And then you realize just how minimal you are.
C#m B E
I stop and watch the airplanes leave the city.
G#m
And I silently wish I was on one.
C#m B
You sit down slow and watch yourself in the glass.
E
You reach inside and tear out all your cables.
Snakes of smoke are dripping from your fingers.
You have no body, just a cage to hold your parts.
C#m B
I have no answers; Im rambling.
E G#m
I was never one to solve whatever has gone wrong.
C#m B
You lie down on the roof and watch the sun rise.
E
Its burning fingers rummage through your insides.
And for a moment you feel like youre alive.
And then its gone, so you get up.
E B
Up, up, baby. Theres blood on the sidewalks of this town.
C#m B A
Theyve got us on the ropes. But we dont have to take it lying down anymore.
Our hands arent tied now.
E B
Down, down, baby. Down in the in the center of this town.
C#m
Theyve got em buried deep.
B A
Under layers of concrete are the bones of our past.
(Oh no, no)
C#m B E A
Well leave on the evening train.
C#m B E A
It wont be long, but it feels that way.
C#m B E A
But home never meant very much to us any__way.
C#m B A
So we convince ourselves that were better off gone.
E
And maybe were right.
E B C#m
And we collapse on a road.
B A B E
On an old dirt road, where the sun doesnt look like such a waste.
E B C#m B A
And we fall asleep, under leaves of a couple of them nearby tress.
B E
And we never wake again.
Never again, no never again.
