Trupa a fost fondata de catre Stephen O''Malley (Burning Witch,Khanate, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, Sunn O))), Lotus Eaters, Pentemple) si Greg Anderson (Goatsnake, Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine, Sunn O))), Pentemple, Burning Witch) in 1994. Runhild Gammelsæter, studenta de 17 ani, venita din Norvegia s-a ocupat de voce pentru demouri si pentru EP Dommedagsnatt, din 1996.
